Kelli Postema
LMSW, CCTP
If you ask Kelli what she does, she’ll probably say something like, “I help people sort through the hard stuff… and occasionally remind them they’re doing better than they think.”
Kelli is the owner and CEO of Hope & Healing Counseling and she primarily works with adults, with a strong focus on first responders, law enforcement, corrections officers, and other high-stress professions navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, and life transitions.
Her approach is warm, direct, and grounded in real life. Kelli believes therapy shouldn’t feel overly clinical or uncomfortable—it should feel like sitting down with someone who gets it, helps you make sense of things, and isn’t thrown off by the realities of your job or your story. She’s not afraid to sit in the hard moments, but she also knows that sometimes humor is part of how people get through—because in high-stress professions especially, that’s often how people cope.
With a background working in both jail and prison systems, Kelli has a deep understanding of the unique stressors faced by those in corrections and law enforcement. She brings that experience into her work, offering a space where clients don’t have to explain the culture—they can just be real.
Clients often describe her as down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and someone who creates a sense of comfort quickly—even for those who aren’t sure about therapy (or didn’t really want to be there in the first place). Around here, it’s often described as a balance of coffee, chaos, and compassion—meeting people where they are while helping them move forward in a way that actually feels doable.
Outside of work, Kelli is usually spending time with family and friends—and of course, Walter, her Border Collie. Lately, she’s also picked up a new hobby: fish. It turns out managing a growing practice and a tank full of fish both require patience, attention, and a willingness to adapt—so it keeps her both busy and balanced.
At the heart of her work is a simple goal: helping people feel more Empowered, Present, and Resolved—one conversation at a time.
