Meet our founder
Kelli Postema, LMSW-C
Founder & CEO, Hope & Healing Counseling
Kelli Postema is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW-C) with a Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University.
Her career began in community mental health and public housing, but her passion for working with incarcerated individuals led her to roles in a county jail and with the Michigan Department of Corrections, where she worked in outpatient mental health and was part of the wellness team that provided mental health support to correctional employees and their families.
Currently, Kelli focuses on treating individuals with a history of trauma, anxiety, and depression. She creates a warm and supportive environment at Hope & Healing Counseling in Jenison, MI.
Outside of work, Kelli enjoys family time and cherishes her beloved Border Collie, Walter, who is in training to become an office therapy dog. Kelli believes in the power of community and is excited to walk alongside you on your path to wellness.

Trauma recovery
Trauma recovery starts here
Trauma is a widespread and costly public health issue, resulting from physically or emotionally harmful experiences. It affects not only individuals and families but also entire communities. While some people manage to move forward without significant disruption, others are deeply impacted by their experiences.
Emerging research has shown the profound effects of trauma on our health. Exposure to traumatic events can impair neurodevelopment and immune system responses, leading to a range of healthcare concerns. We recognize the pervasive impact of trauma and are dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to help you heal and rebuild your life — addressing both the emotional and physical effects.
First responders program
Supporting our everyday heroes
We understand the unique challenges faced by first responders such as corrections officers, police officers, firefighters, nurses, and other medical professionals. These roles are demanding and involve frequent exposure to traumatic events.
We recognize the high value placed on strength and bravery in these fields, often accompanied by a code of silence and stigma around mental health. Our clinical focus is on trauma, providing specialized support tailored to those who serve our communities.
Our approach
Trauma-informed care
Utilizing trauma-informed practices to address the specific needs of first responders, we help manage cumulative stress and trauma.
Confidential support
Offering a safe, confidential environment where first responders can explore their emotions without fear of judgment.
Building resilience
Strengthening resilience to help manage stress and maintain mental well-being.
Peer support
Facilitating connections with peers to foster a sense of community and shared understanding.
Holistic healing
Addressing psychological, physical, and emotional well-being for comprehensive recovery.
We are dedicated to supporting our everyday heroes with the care they deserve to thrive both professionally and personally. Departments and unions: ask us about group and peer-support arrangements.
